Let's Talk Amplifiers

A lot of guitar players would love to have electric guitars. Most guitar players look for the best sounding electric guitar, the best designed electric guitar and the best branded electric guitar. Not a lot of guitar players pay attention to the guitar amp. Little do people know that it is important to that you pick out a really good amplifier. Most beginner guitarists do not realize what guitar amps can do for them. What you need to realize early on is your equipment will greatly affect the sound you make. You may be the best guitar player in town. But if you don't have the right equipment, you will definitely sound terrible. Even the best electric guitar, when paired with a really crappy amp, can sound like a dying cat.

Guitar Amps Cost

One of the things you have to consider when getting your first ever amp is the price. Of course, most beginner guitar players will not want to spend too much or will not have that much to spend for their equipment. Guitar amps can cost about a hundred to several thousands of dollars. To start off, you can go for the low cost solution: 15 watt guitar amps. They are easy to lug around and very inexpensive. But you can't expect that small amp to give you concert quality.

Using a small amp can prove to be very frustrating especially for beginner guitar players when small amps are in use. You may think that you just can't seem to play anything nice. What you don't realize is you just do not have the right equipment at the moment. You can also expect to have some problems when it comes to the volume of the amp. At one point, you will want to play with other musicians. And your sound can easily be drowned out by the drums. And obviously, that will pose a really big problem for you and the drummer.

Don't think that you have to spend a huge amount of money for your first guitar amp. These small amps can be sufficient in the meantime. But you will have to think of getting a better amp in the near future.

There are some basic things that you will want to consider when you buy your first amplifier. Check if the amp has a three-band equalizer for the low, mid and high. Check if you can switch from clean to overdrive. And lastly, check for reverb. These options will allow you to test the versatility of your newfound skill and let you try out different sounds as you study some riffs and licks.

Guitar Amps Selection

You have to check and see for yourself how you will sound with an amplifier before you actually make a purchase. Pay a visit to the local music store and try out the different amplifiers. Play with the volume and the overdrive. Try to see if you are satisfied with the dynamics of the sound you make. Check to see if you and the amp have some sort of "chemistry" going on before you decide to buy that amp.

You may also want to try haggling with the employees. It is possible to get the amp you really want for a lower price. And it won't hurt to try.
